Tours of the Holy Mountain, the monastery at Andechs

The monastery at Andechs is the ideal spot for a “typically Bavarian” interlude. First, a tour of the monastery, then drop in at the monastery’s casual eatery to mix with the locals and sample the renowned Andechs beer and cheese as you drink in the picturesque views.

The architecture alone is worth a visit. Designed by Günter Behnisch, the museumwas built in a park created on the shore of Lake Starnberg, to house the extraordinary Buchheim Collection, encompassing outstanding works of German Expressionism, graphic arts, and folk art.
